Hello again all and a happy Friday to all. I need to find a logo designer for my real work before I enjoy my weekend but I wanted to write today's post first.

Today, I would like to feature a very famous Chinese artist. He is not only a gifted painter but also you can say a kind of all around player in the art world. He is non-other then the famous Ye Yongqing. Also don’t forget to check out my tomorrow’s post edition that will be featuring more of his art work. Ye Yongqing was born 1958 in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. He is a pioneering artist who was part of the Sichuan School of artists. Begun in 2000, which he executed in a signature quirky style featuring scratched black lines using the traditional medium of Chinese brush and ink on rice paper. In recent years he also focused on creating colorful collages. But for years he was been better known as a curator, arts events organizer and artist’s community booster. Ye Yongqing is perhaps best known for his bird paintings. He is a close friend and colleague to artists who worked in western particularly Sichuan and Yunnan. Ye Yongqing graduated from the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1982.

Hello all and again this is another post edition of “fulfill promised”. But I think this would be the last of the edition as office works have been catching up on me. And I really hate if I were to break a promise.

As for this last “fulfill promised” edition I’ve chosen a special painting title Doa (Prayer). To reminds us all how important it is to pray and the power of prayer. This painting is the work of a very famous Malaysian painter name Hamdan Omar. Now here is his biography and his famous painting. Enjoy all……

Hamdan Omar was born in Malaysia. He attended the School of Art and Design at MARA Institute of Technology currently called UITM, Malaysia. In 1977, he graduated as a Graphic Designer and joined the Malaysian advertising industry. He was very successful and won the prestigious Best of the Best of Indonesian Advertising Award in 1995. He retired from the industry in 2005 to become a full time painter. He started exhibiting his works since 2007 in group shows and in 2008 staged his first solo exhibition in Jakarta.

Dao Quoc Huy was born 1971 in Vietnam. He graduated from the University of Fine Arts located in Hanoi, Vietnam. Later he taught from the university and became a member of the distinguished Vietnam Fine Art Association. Since 1996, he has been honored with awards from the Vietnam Fine Art Association. In 2000, he was awarded the silver medal at the National Exhibition held in Vietnam. Dao Quoc Huy has exhibited extensively in Vietnam and abroad in countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, China and Switzerland.

OK, back to today’s post edition and in my quest to write about different “as promise” famous artists from different countries, I’ve choose to feature this famous painter from Japan. He is non-other than the famous Takashi Murakami and here is his biography and a few of his paintings. Enjoy all……

Takashi Murakami was born 1963 in Tokyo, Japan. Murakami attended the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, initially studying more traditional Japanese art. He is a prolific contemporary Japanese
artist who works in both fine arts media, such as painting as well as digital and commercial media. He borrows popular themes from mass media and pop culture, and turns them into huge sculptures, “Superflat” paintings, or marketable commercial goods such as figurines of phone candles. In 2008, Takashi Murakami made Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” list, the only visual artist included.

Kim Tschang Yeul was born 1929 in Mangsan, Pyeongahnamdo, Korea. He graduated from the College of Fine Arts at Seoul National University in 1950. From 1950 to 1968 he was a member of The Art Students League of New York. He has held several solo and group exhibitions in many countries including China, Japan
of China in 2005 and during that same year he also exhibited his artwork at the famous Guimet Museum of Asian Art in Paris, France. His works are collected by art institutions and museum around the world

                                                           

Biography Of Tan Juat Lee ( b.1953 )

Tan Juat Lee was born 1953 in multi-racial Singapore. After completing her BA ( Hons ) in Nanyang University of Singapore in 1976, she continued a fine art education at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore in 1987. A self-acknowledged romantic realist, she describes her pieces as Chinese Singaporean with a touch of the current “East Meets West” ideology. She won many awards, including Grand Prize in the UOB Painting of the Year Competitions in 1997 and 2004, Juror’s Choice in Philip Morris ASEAN Art Awards in 1998. Her highly personal artworks have been exhibited in Singapore, China, Brunei and Japan.

Oscar Salita was born 1943 in the Philippines. He is considered one of the popular Filipino artists and his folk artworks are cherished by collectors in Philippines and abroad. Salita’s works are very distinctive- his figures and backgrounds speaks of traditional Filipino culture and they are rendered in bold colors and interesting geometry. Salita has enjoyed huge success in his career; his work has reached the US and many prominent cities around the world making him an important and highly prized artist.

In today’s edition I would like to feature a Taiwanese artist as I believe that I have not featured one yet. And to be fair to all the Taiwanese readers out there here’s one dedicated just for you guys.

Liang Yifen was born in 1937, in Feng- yuan of Chang- hua Country in Taiwan. He graduated from Taipei Teaching College majoring in fine arts. Liang studied modern art under Li Chung Sheng, a celebrated artist in Taiwan, from 1958 to 1963. Liang held his first solo exhibition at the Taipei American Cultural Centre gallery in 1973 and since then, he held solo exhibitions annually, setting up a work studio in New York and holding exhibitions throughout the United States. Liang returned to Taiwan in 1999, and held a solo exhibition of large-scale paintings at Taichung Harbour Area Art Centre in 2003.

Liang’s works are collected by a large number of private collectors and have been shown in over 150 exhibitions worldwide.

Biography Of Sudjana Kerton (1922-1994)

Sudjana Kerton was born 1922 in Bandung, West Java. In 1950, he was awarded with a scholarship to study in Amsterdam, Holland after which he continued his art education at the Academie de Grande Chaumiere in Paris, France. In 1952, he enrolled at the Art Students League in New York, USA and from 1962 to 1963, he studied mural painting in Mexico.

He returned to Indonesia in 1976 after 25 years abroad. A major retrospective exhibition of Kerton’s work was held in Jakarta in 1996 after his passing in 1994.

Biography Of Deng Xinli (b.1974)

Deng Xinli was born 1974 in Henan province China. He graduated from the Chinese Central Institution of Fine Arts in 1997. He went to New Zealand to pursue a degree at the Whitecliffe College of Art and Design. Later he becomes member of Auckland Artist Association of New Zealand and member of Chinese Artist Association of New Zealand. From 2004 to 2007 he was invited to teach “Surreaslist Art and Tradiotional
Painting Techniques” at the Unbridge Art Centre of New Zealand. Deng Xinli’s paintings have always been surrealistic in nature. In his paintings he tries to express the current state of political and social undercurrent and does it with surrealist humor with historical and cultural undertones. He has participated in many group exhibitions held in New Zealand and China.

Biography Of Bencharong Kowapitaktat (b. 1973)

Bencharong Kowapitaktat was born 1973 in Thailand. He graduated from the prestigious Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok from the Faculty of Fine and Applied arts. Later he studied at the Faculty of Painting, sculpture and graphic arts at Silpakorn University. He won several awards at Art contests by prominent banks and corporations.

In 1997, Bencharorong was the Top Winner for the Thailand Art Award 1997 organized by the Philip Morris Group. He had a fine eye for rendering farmyard scenes of chickens with life-like detailing. His works has a rustic charming appeal as well as beauty in composition.

Biography Of Guo Jin

Guo Jin was born in 1964 in Chengdu, China. A graduate of Szechuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1990, he participated in countless successful solo and group exhibitions in China, South East Asia, USA and Europe.

His paintings of cherubic children in costume and play are easily recognizable and have become a signature for his works. A prevalent theme for Guo Jin’s paintings is the “reflection and contemplation of man’s naiveté” while the children “represent the essence of idealism that we possessed but were probably lost after”. His most recent solo exhibition entitled “Guo Jin’s Return” was held in 2008 at the Indonesia National Museum in Jakarta.

Awiki was born 1961 in Surabaya (East Java), Indonesia. He studied painting from Bani Amora in Genteng and continued his study at Intermediate School Of Art (SMSR) in Yogyakarta and also at Sanggar Pajeng Art Studioa, a studio known for its adherence to realism. He held solo and group exhibitions in Indonesia, Singapore and China.

Awiki works fast and furious with a thick impasto style and used an intense palette on subjects drawn from everyday encounters and impressions.

Biography Of Hendra Gunawan

Hendra Gunawan was born in 1918, in Bandung, West java. A remarkable man, he was not only a gifted artist, but a poet, sculptor and a political activist. In his youth, he was a student of artists like Wahdi Sumwnta and Affandi. Later in 1935, together with two other artists they formed the Kelompok Lima in Bandung. He also helped to establish Sundanese Heritage ( Bandung) and People’s Artist Studio (Yogyakarta) in 1940 and 1947 respectively.

In 1978 he moved to Bali and three years later held a solo exhibition in Denpasar. His works are vigorous portrayals of the lives of villagers and common people in bright colours. Hendra Gunawan died in the year 1983.

Many of Gunawan’s works have been lost. Fortunately museums and private collectors have located and catalogued over 120 of his paintings and sketches, along with several sculptures.

Biography of Fernando Amorsolo

Fernando Amorsolo was born in 1892 in Paco, Philippines. He was considered one of the many important painters in the Philippine art history in the 20th century. One of his famous paintings was Leyendo el periodic which won second place in the Bazar Escolta, a contest organized by the Asociacion Internacional de Artistas. The next year he enrolled in the Art School of the Liceo de Manilla where he graduated with honors. The University of the Philippines’ School of Fine Arts was where he later entered and where he was influenced by famous artists like Renoir, Monet and Diego Velazquez. In the year 1920s to 1930s Amorsolo set up his own painting studio and earned his honors from his paintings and drawings. He actively devoted his time for painting and one of his paintings, Rice Planting images were used in brochures and posters during the Commonwealth era. The struggle of Philippines and the people was often portrayed by Amorsolo and he used woman as themes mourning on her dead husband during the World War II.

Biography of Henri Matisse

Henri Matisse was born on 1869 France. He studied law in Paris from 1887 to 1888 but in 1891, when he was 21 years old he became ill and which was when he started painting and discovered his love for art.

He then went to Paris to study art at the Académie Julian and then at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts with Gustave Moreau. Matisse show took place at the Galerie Vollard in 1904. His subjects were primarily women and interiors. In 1913, his work was included in the Armory Show in New York. By the year 1923, two Russians, Sergei Shchukin and Ivan Morosov, had purchased nearly 50 of his paintings and are now in the Pushkin Museum in Moscow and the Hermitage, St Petersburg.

In 1931, he visited America where he was commissioned to paint murals for the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia. In 1948, he designed the decoration of Chapelle du Rosaire at Vence, which was completed in 1951. Major retrospective of his work was presented at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. He traveled to Cleveland, Chicago, and San Francisco. Matisse continued to make large paper cutouts but a design for the rose window at Union Church of Pocantico Hills, New York was his last.

He died on November 3, 1954, in Nice.

Biography of Jack Vettriano

Hi all, now I would like to share with you guys the biography and paintings by the famous Jack Vettriano….enjoy !!!

Jack Vettriano was born in 1953, Scotland. Vettriano actually left school at 16 to become an apprentice mining engineer He later become a mining engineer and worked in the Scottish coalfields.

In his twenties he took painting as a hobby and only did his paintings in his spare time but later he quit his job and took painting as a full-time job. 1988 was the year in which he submitted two canvas painting for the Royal Scottish Academy annual show. To everyone’s surprise both paintings were sold on the very first day of the opening and that was the break-through of his career as a professional painter. Vettriano was approached by several galleries who wanted to sell his other work.

Successful exhibitions followed in London, Johannesburg, Edinburgh, Hong Kong and New York. Vettriano mostly used himself as model for all his paintings. Critics however dismissed Vettriano art work as being vulgar but he remain as one of the most commercially successful living artists in his time. Vettriano has studios in London and Scotland. In 2003 he was awarded the OBE.

Hi all, I seems that the entire merger meeting have not ended yet. Meeting seems to be held everyday since Monday and that really occupies my time. So I think this week will also be another dry spell for me blogging, but I have this to keep you guy occupied until I have the time to do more blogging and of coz about painting too. And so here are some paintings by the famous Arie Smit and his biography …..Enjoy!!!

Arie Smit was born in the year 1916, Netherlands. He studied his art at the Academy of Arts in the Rotterdam. He later left for the Dutch Indies period to the Second World War where he worked as a lithographer. In the year 1956 he then moved to Bali, Indonesia and became an Indonesian citizen and it’s when he decided to became a full time artist. He not only did his painting but also taught painting at the Bandung Institute of Technology. A jewel-like vibrant painting was the art work of Arie Smit’s as he painted the landscape and villages scenes of Bali. Smit held many exhibitions in countries like Singapore, Honolulu and Tokyo. Smit’s art painting collection can be found in the Museum Bali in Denpasar and the Penang Museum in Malaysia.

Hi guys, I’m too tired to talk about anything right now. And I really need to get some sleep as tomorrow will be another big and busy day at the office. But I’ll not leave you guy empty handed, lol…..Coz here’s the biography and some paintings from a very famous painter to the likes of as Affandi, Basuki (Basoeki) Abdullah and Lee Man Fong. He is non other than the famous Popo Iskandar….Enjoy!

Popo Iskandar was born in 1927, West Java. Popo studied painting and graduated from Bandung Institute of Technology from the Department of Fine Arts in 1958. He later became a lecturer at the State Teachers Training College in Bandung. Popo was really a man of intellect and was well respected as an artist, art critic and observers. A lifetime membership was awarded to him by the Jakarta Academy for his dedication and contributions in art especially in Indonesia. Popo participated in many group exhibitions like England, India, China, Japan and many other countries. He also held several solo exhibitions in Holland and Indonesia back in 1953. He died in 2000.

Biography of Adrien Jean Le de Mayeur

Just a quick post guys as my internet line is not much to be desired about right now. And also we had to go and get the twins a new suit for tonite's show and so I’ll leave you guys with these painting by Adrien Jean Le de Mayeur and his biography.

Adrien Jean Le de Mayeur was born in February 1880. He was actually a son of a painter and has nobility linked with Belgium royal family. Le Mayeur had a degree in architect but he was rather keen in becoming a painter. In his quest to paint the best matter he did a lot of traveling to countries like France, Morocco, Tunisia, India, Cambodia, Tahiti and even to French Polynesia but he decide to stay and lived in Bali where he married a local lenong dancer girl name Ni Pollok. He also fell in love with Bali’s culture and beautiful landscape and his work started to focus on Bali’s life. It can be seen in most of his successful solo exhibitions in Singapore and Malaysia, Le Mayeur was on top of his career when the second world broke out. He was placed under arrest in a prison camp due to his Belgian nationality by the Japanese authority. During the war time he was still able to continue his work but used rice sack cloth instead of canvas. In 1958 he had ear-cancer. He traveled to Brussels for treatment but it was incurable and died on May 31, 1958.
